Unique Busy Kids

Unique Busy Kids (UBK) is a preschool that is founded by Krystal Glass. It's conveniently located at 3405 Lewiston Road, Greensboro, NC 27410. Children are allowed to express their uniqueness in a social environment that maximizes their UNIQUE strengths and abilities. They take pride in helping children develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. You can read more about them by going here.

Because of that they invited some of their favorite children’s books authors to participate in their first annual children’s book fair on April 9, 2022 at 3:00 PM EST in celebration of Week of the Young Child. My daughter, Haelee and I were tardy to the party so we missed out on the author networking event and the catered meal from Dames Chicken and Waffles. You can check out the profiles of many of those authors by scrolling through the gallery below. At any rate, it wasn’t a big deal because Krystal welcomed us both with open arms, smiles, and bear hugs. She then pointed us to the 8 foot table that had our names on it. It also had gift bags with handwritten notes and other goodies inside of them.

We made connections with preschool teachers, middle school teachers, parents, young adult readers, and beginning readers. We even gave a few books away at no cost and with no strings attached because we felt like the children deserved them after talking to them. Haelee even exchanged numbers and social media handles with one young lady after hearing that she suffered from low self esteem and depression.

Moving along, we also got the opportunity to finally meet our fellow author friends Michelle Knight and Kim C Lee in person. We call them friends because we’ve long since established relationships with them on social media. And we collaborate often with each other having done so. As a matter of fact Kim convinced Michelle, Tara, and myself to participate in some shenanigans with her.

With all of that being said, I’d definitely trust my daughter with UBK if she was younger. As a matter of fact, I do hence I’ll be dropping her off for programs with their kids whenever they’re up to having her. Those of you that live in Greensboro should definitely check them out for your childcare needs.

Moving forward, Haelee and I concluded our day by stopping at Dames in Chapel Hill [147 E Franklin Street] since we missed out on lunch as previously prefaced. And man let me tell you the food was to die for. The collards literally opened up my allergies. I had them along with chicken wings and mac n cheese. Haelee on the other hand had wings and waffles.

Thank you so much Krystal and family for giving us an excuse to come back home and for showing us a great time. We can’t wait to see you guys again. And thank you Dames for feeding us something great to eat as well.
