Lessons from the Good Trouble Summit

I’m grateful for the new connections, the great conversations, the good food, and the opportunity to learn more about how we can show up and support our communities in real ways. Being part of an experience like this reminded me how important it is to stay open to learning and willing to grow.

Being surrounded by my classmates and other young leaders who care about service, justice, and impact was motivating. It showed me what’s possible when people come together with a desire to make change.

I’m especially thankful for Morgan Ray, Director of Experiential Learning and Career Development, and Vonda Reed, Director of Honors Program at Shaw University, for their leadership, support, and commitment to helping students like me access meaningful opportunities like this. Their guidance and encouragement made this experience possible.

One of the biggest lessons I took away is that growth comes from staying curious, building strong relationships, and remaining committed to giving back. It comes from listening, asking questions, and being willing to step outside your comfort zone.

This weekend reminded me why leadership and community matter. It encouraged me to keep showing up, keep learning, and keep using my voice in positive ways.

I’m excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the opportunity to be part of something bigger than me. Be sure to check out the photos below, and click here to check out my “getting ready” video to see behind the scenes.
