Serving during MLK Weekend means showing up, serving with love, and creating moments of dignity and care for our neighbors. My wife Vanessa and I had the privilege of participating in an Act of Service that embodied those very values this weekend.
Inspired by Dr. King’s words, “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve” my wife Vanessa and I joined volunteers in packing over 200 hygiene kits for unhoused individuals and families in need. Each kit represented more than supplies; it represented dignity, compassion, and the collective impact that can happen when people come together with a shared mission.
We proudly salute Camelia Wyman, Founder of IAMME Girls, and Kaleisha Council, Founder of Sistahs Who Care, along with their ambassadors, for bringing this meaningful initiative to life. Their leadership created not only an opportunity to serve, but an environment filled with purpose, joy, and genuine community connection. After that, there was nothing left to do but dance it out in celebration of the moment.
As we reflect on this MLK holiday weekend, we’re reminded that Dr. King’s legacy lives on through everyday acts of love, service, and community care.
How are you honoring Dr. King during this holiday weekend?
