The Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Durham Alumnae Chapter hosts reading events as a part of their community service initiative to promote minority authors. They do so once per quarter through virtual events. The chapter purchases a copy of each of the authors books and raffles them off. They send copies off to the winning families to promote literacy. It’s said to be a fun and educational event for families with children in grades K-5.
The next event will happen on Friday, February 11th from 7:30-8:30pm via Zoom. I will be reading my award winning children’s book, The Rules of a Little Boss. Families can register to hear me and other authors on the panel such as Tara Hill-Starks, Sherricka Carpenter Stanley, etc read our children’s books. Those of you that want to attend must register first by going here. Once registered you’ll receive an email invite for Friday 2/11.
I would like to thank Dr. Vanessa Raynor and Alicia Roberts for letting me create my own moments in black history through their sorority. Ms. Alicia is an author and empowerment coach. You can find out more about her and shop her brand by going here.
