Markeeter Knox and her family stopped by York County Library in support of International Culture Day. They visited France, Haiti Ghana, and England during their trip. They learned about how other regions of the world celebrate Christmas while also trying out several international delicacies.
A special surprise awaited them at the end of their journey in the form of Zandrea Frazier, Children’s Assistant, York County Library. She shared with them that the collections manager purchased copies of her and her daughter Trinity’s debut children’s book I Scream You Scream We All Learn About Ice Cream. In doing so they placed a copy at each branch location in the county. She further shared that it was one of the best children’s books that she’d ever read and that she loved the message behind it. The basic tenet of the book is that we’re all the same so appreciate and love the skin that you’re in. It uses ice cream to deliver this beautiful message.
I say all of this to say, go out and visit your local public libraries. As community partners they offer a wealth of education, fun, and entertainment at no cost to their patrons. But not only that I share this message to say congratulations Markeeter and Trinity for a job well done as authors and members of the York County Community and beyond. I salute you both.
