I'm thrilled to share that I have been installed as the Vice President of Public Relations (VPPR) in my local Toastmasters Group! It is an incredible honor to be entrusted with the responsibility of protecting our brand and handling public relations for our amazing community. And guess what? The best part is that I didn't even campaign for this role – it came as a delightful surprise!
But wait there's more, despite my personal struggles with mental health, my Toastmasters family and the esteemed leadership council have shown me remarkable understanding and unwavering belief in my abilities. They looked beyond my challenges and recognized my unique qualities, speaking with conviction, humor, authority, sincerity, and humility. It's truly heartwarming and inspiring to be part of a community that provides such a supportive space for growth and self-expression.
Let's take a peek behind the scenes. Yesterday was one of those incredibly days where it felt like everything was going wrong. From mysteriously disappearing car keys to completely forgetting my badges, and to top it all off, I somehow managed to get toothpaste on my shirt! Can you believe the string of unfortunate events?
I arrived fashionably late to our Toastmasters Meeting and, believe it or not, even to my own induction ceremony! Yet, instead of disappointment, I was met with warm smiles and laughter from my fellow Toastmasters. They embraced me for who I am – someone who occasionally stumbles but brings joy and laughter to the group.
As I entered the room, slightly out of breath, the atmosphere was filled with lighthearted jokes and laughter. The immediate Past President, jokingly said, “Boy, you’re too much. Why do you have to play all the time?” We all laughed together, and it was such a heartwarming event.
Yes, my shenanigans caused a minor delay, but what truly mattered was the incredible acceptance and understanding from my Toastmasters family. They demonstrated that embracing my true self, quirks, and occasional blunders included, is what makes each of us truly special. Those of you who are interested, can catch a replay of the installation ceremony by going here.
