Your Voice Still Matters

I told my wife the other day that I’ve been standing at a crossroads when it comes to writing and public speaking. The truth is, I haven’t felt like my voice or my words matter anymore in this sociopolitical climate. So I got quiet. Real quiet.

Then out of nowhere, Kayla Spears (Storyteller Kay) gave me one of the best gifts I could’ve ever received for Father’s Day. She said that my book Dear Daughter: A Love Story was the first children’s book to bring her to tears. That it captured the highs, the lows, and the in-betweens of what it means to be a father trying to get it right.

She reminded me therein that my voice does matter even when I’m not sure it’s being heard.

Truth is, I wrote this book for my daughter but I also wrote it for yours. For every dad trying. For every daughter healing. For anyone learning how to love out loud.

Dear Daughter isn’t just a book. It’s a love letter. It’s about showing up, even when the words don’t come easy.

It’s available as an eBook, paperback, hardcover, and audiobook. You can find or request in bookstores and public libraries near you.

If you’ve read it, I’d love to hear what it meant to you. If you haven’t, I hope you will. And I hope it finds you when you need it most.

And since we’re here, how did you spend Father’s Day this year?
