Spreading Holiday Joy With The Christmas Lesson

Wendy Pineda, Director of Academic Achievement, Casa Esperanza Montessori School welcomed my daughter, Haelee I to read to their students on March 2, 2023, for Read Across America Day. The collective experience was so delightful that she extended an open invitation for us to return anytime. Remembering Wendy’s warm gesture, I reached out to share news about our latest book, The Christmas Lesson: Unwrapping Love and Family. Designed for kids aged 4 to 11, The Christmas Lesson teaches the true spirit of Christmas in emphasizing family, joy, and love.

I’m happy to share that not only did Wendy offer her congratulations, but she also confirmed that the invitation still stood! So, Santa Bruh and his lead elf, Elfie (aka Haelee), joined the children at Casa for story time on December 13, 2023. Dressed as Santa’s Helpers, we visited all of the K-4 classrooms during a marathon reading of "The Christmas Lesson." The children showered us with high fives and hugs, even inviting us back—especially if it snows. They can't wait for a snowball fight while enjoying more stories. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Wendy, the volunteers (especially our good friend Ghenet Mogos), and the rest of the leadership team at Casa Esperanza for allowing us to share stories with the children and for the precious gift of a child’s delight. Their joy made every sacrifice in writing and publishing The Christmas Lesson and out other books worthwhile.

What holiday books warmed your heart when you were a child?
