Legacy Achievement

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

Forsyth County Public Library is a consortium of 10 public libraries nestled throughout Winston Salem, NC. They are leaders in lifelong learning through community engagement and innovative programming that focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. With that in mind, Lara Luck, Collection Development Supervisor and her team, hand selected 20 authors from across the state to participate in their local author fair. I’m absolutely humbled and honored that my daughter and I were amongst those chosen. We will be joined at the event by a myriad of diverse authors to include Sherricka Carpenter-Stanley, Chris Singleton, Adrienne Barr, and Brittney Dent.

Sherricka is the author of I Fit in Just Right and Through Our Eyes. I Fit in Just Right takes the readers through a familial relationship of a young African American Boy wherein he’s able to see how he fits into his family tree. Through Our Eyes is a celebration of inauguration wherein the world got to see Kamala Harris elected as the first multi-cultural Vice President. It's a story of hope for young ladies particularly brown ones from across the world. You can find out more about both books by going here.

Chris is the author Chris & Frankie: Intro to Our Ebony and Ivory Keys. This interactive book teaches young children memory tricks such that they will be able to identify the notes on the piano keys and ultimately learn how to play a song. It includes delightful narration and a musical companion. You can learn more about this book by going here.

Adrienne is the author author of Dances With Butterflies. This book helps young readers learn how to manage their anxieties through meditative exercises. It also encourages them to recognize body awareness so that they can dance their way towards their dreams. You can find out more about this book by going here.

Britney is the author of Parenting Redefined: Finding the Confidence to Parent Your Teen. This book helps parents build better relationships with their teenage children through a series of testimony and research. It gives them hope as they attempt to parent through the teenage years. You can read more about this book by going here.

Each one of us will be all be chatting, laughing, and posing for pictures. We’ll also be selling and autographing the books described above and other merchandise. The event will take place at Forsyth County Central Library which is located at 660 West Fifth St, Winston Salem, NC 27101 on March 19, 2022. Please call 336.703.Books with any questions that you may have in advance.

And finally Ms. Luck I’ll forever cherish this considering that I’ll get to do it with my daughter. I hope that she shares those same sentiments in that she tells the story or rather writes about it after I’m long and gone. On that note, I sincerely thank Forsyth County Library System and yourself for affording us such an opportunity.
