Reflecting on an incredible week of experiences, I delivered a workshop titled “Empowerment Unleashed” at Families Moving Forward (FMF) on December 6th and launched my latest book, “The Christmas Lesson: Unwrapping Love and Family,” at Next Chapter Bookstore on December 9th (more on that at a later time).
FMF is 30-90 day homeless services provider that’s dedicated to helping families find their way home. Emphasizing unity, I stressed that I’m no one special as I facilitated and delivered the keynote. Collaborating with leaders from Durham County Library, Shaw University, Sistah’s Who Care, The Rules of a Big Boss LLC, and Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina. Our shared goal was to empower FMF’s residents through fellowship, laughter, mock interviews, and motivational speeches.
Post-event surveys confirmed the success of “Empowerment Unleashed.” I’m so deeply grateful to my dedicated team of women in leadership; Tammy Baggett, Stephanie Ferrell, Lakesia Farmer, Stephanie Bonestell, Vanessa Moone, Haelee Moone, Kaleisha Counsel, Tenisha Harper, Loria Glenn, Alexis Smith, Jennifer Williams, and Adri Maisonet-Morales for trusting me to lead. And special thanks to Shiona Caldwell for entrusting no one special (me) to bring your idea, to fruition.
