Acts of Service

There are a total of 5 love languages. The basic definition of love languages is how someone best shows and receives love. The resultant quadrants are acts of service, words of affirmation, quality time, physical touch, and gifts. My principal language is acts of service. An act of service is where someone readily goes out of their way to meaningfully help and support someone else particularly those that they like or care about.

With that being said, I wanted to take a moment to support and highlight 5 black women that I admire. I admire them in part because they support me in my writing journey amongst other things. But not only that, they support me in life. Their support means a great deal to me because neither of them have to. They do so because they simply care too. A bonus is that each one of these women are successes in their respective rights from academia to entrepreneurship. Given that sentiment I felt it important to show how they’ve supported me while simultaneously supporting them by putting them on display. Our cumulative actions in that regard are what acts of service is all about.

Please note that I couldn’t list everyone because I wanted to limit the list to 5 black women only with respect to the 5 love languages. Notwithstanding I want to let every woman not listed that’s been a part of my journey to know that I appreciate all that they’ve done to help me get where I am today. I look forward to continuing to uplifting each one of you in addition to hearing your thoughts on my upcoming literary works particularly Dear Daughter. I love y’all.

Now a few questions:

  1. What is your primary love language?

  2. Have you picked up a copy of The Unexpected Journey yet?

  3. Which black women do you specifically admire? And why?
